Hundreds Of Thousands Visit Voting Website Following Taylor Swift’s Harris Endorsement

More than 306,000 people have visited vote.gov since global popstar Taylor Swift gave her public endorsement for Kamala Harris.

The numbers came from a General Services Administration spokesperson, who told NPR that 306,422 visitors to the website came from those who clicked on the URL Swift shared on her social media.

The Briefing interviewed Washington journalist Dave Levinthal to unpack all the debate’s key moments and verdict on who won.

Swift said she’s voting for Harris because “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make,” Swift wrote before signing off the post from “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”.

Meanwhile, around 67 million people tuned in live to watch the Harris-Trump presidential debate.

It’s about 15 million people more than tuned in for Joe Biden and Trump’s debate back in June, which was watched by 51.3 million. That debate eventually led to Mr Biden dropping out of the presidential race.

Despite beating the June viewership, The Harris-Trump debate fell short of record viewership for a presidential debate.

In 2016, the first debate between Trump and Hilary Clinton brought in 84 million viewers, while the first Biden-Trump in 2020 reached 73.1 million people.

There are currently no other debates scheduled between Harris and Trump, but there is a vice presidential debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance.
