Gwyneth Paltrow has appeared in a new advertisement for US-based tech company Astronomer.

It came days after the company’s CEO and HR executive resigned following a viral moment at a Coldplay concert.

The Oscar-winning actor and businesswoman, who was previously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, was unveiled as a “temporary spokesperson” for Astronomer in a short video posted on Sunday night.

The ad appeared less than two weeks after CEO Andy Byron and chief HR executive Kristin Cabot were filmed embracing on the venue’s kiss cam during Coldplay’s 15 July concert near Boston.

The moment drew widespread attention, particularly after Martin joked on the stage: “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

Byron and Cabot have since resigned from the company.

In the video, Paltrow addresses the recent controversy, while promoting Astronomer’s services.

“I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” she says.

“Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common one.”

The phrase “OMG! What the actual f**?”* then appears on screen in large white text.

Paltrow does not respond directly to the question, instead redirecting attention to the company’s offerings.

“We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation,” she adds.

Paltrow then closes the clip by saying: “We will now be returning to what we do best, which is delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”

The company’s bold PR move has generated significant buzz online.

Technology reporter Neville Lahiru posted: “Getting Chris Martin’s ex-wife was a genius move lol.”

Astronomer, which specialises in data workflow automation and pipeline management, has not released any formal statement regarding the resignations or internal fallout.

Neither Byron nor Cabot has commented publicly since the incident.
