Greyhound Responds To Fatal Bruce Highway Collision As Police Investigate

Three people have died, and multiple others have been seriously injured after a Greyhound bus and caravan collided on the Bruce Highway on Sunday morning, south of Townsville.

The section of the highway near the Wilson Creek Rest Area, between Gumlu and Wangaratta, was closed yesterday following the accident.

Paramedics assessed 27 people at the scene, seven of which suffered life-threatening injuries.

Queensland Police Superintendent Graeme Paine said on Sunday the forensic crash unit is investigating.

“We’ll look at other aspects of the investigation, witness statements, to try and really put together what’s happened,” Paine said.

Greyhound Australia CEO Dan Smith released a statement saying they are providing support to members of their team impacted by the tragedy.

“This is a tragic incident and our deepest sympathies go out to those involved and their families and friends,” Smith said.

“We are working closely with authorities to assist them with their investigation in understanding the course of events that have led to this accident.”
