A Gold Coast city councillor will plead not guilty after being charged with murdering his mother’s partner.
Councillor Ryan Bayldon-Lumsden has been charged with murder after police were called to a home in Arundel on Wednesday.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after 3PM following reports of a disturbance.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found 58-year-old Robert Malcolm Lumsden dead inside the home.
Mr Lumsden is believed to have been Bayldon-Lumsden’s mother’s partner.
Despite performing CPR on Mr Lumsden, he was unable to be revived.
Police arrested Bayldon-Lumsden at the scene and later charged him with one count of murder.
Bayldon-Lumsden’s lawyer confirmed outside of court on Thursday morning that he would be pleading not guilty to the charges.
The matter is set to be heard in court again on September 8.
