NSW Police have confirmed five people have died, and a man has been shot dead by police following an attack at Bondi Junction.
“From preliminary inquiries, it would appear that this person has acted alone,” Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke told the press.
“I am content that there is no continuing threat.”
NSW Ambulance has confirmed eight people have been taken to hospital, including one pediatric patient.
The offender is believed to have entered the shopping centre at 3.10pm, and was later shot at the scene by police.
A critical incident has commenced, with what he said will be a “lengthy and precise” investigation to follow.
