Eddie Dilleen: The man in his 30s who owns $90 million worth of real estate

Being in your 30s and owning multiple properties equating to $90 million is simply impossible, right? Especially in the current economic and housing climate

Enter Eddie Dilleen, who by the age of 32 has done exactly that, owning more than 100 houses, units and offices across the country.

Listen to our chat with Eddie Dilleen here:

At just 18 years old, Eddie bought his first home while working at McDonald’s. He also achieved this, having lived in council housing with his single-parent mother, surviving off Centrelink welfare payments.

So, how did he do it?

In this chat with Antoinette Lattouf on The Weekend Briefing, Eddie explained why he thinks young people aren’t priced out of the market and revealed the serious sacrifices he made along the way.

“When I was starting off and growing up and building my portfolio in my late teens and early 20s, I did still enjoy myself and go out and have fun, but I did it on a budget,” Dilleen said.

“I got my first job when I was 14 and working at McDonald’s and KFC. While I was going to school, I saved up about $20,000 over the course of two years.

“I bought my first investment property in the Central Coast Hour. The reason why that was there and not where I lived is because even back then, I couldn’t afford a property in Western Sydney because it was very expensive.

“After being knocked down by like 12 different banks, finally, a bank said, ‘You can borrow $140,000 if you rent it out as investment property because they’ll take the rental income into consideration then’.”

And this is where it began for Eddie. To hear the rest of Eddie’s story and how he ended up to where he is today, listen to the The Weekend Briefing.
