President Donald Trump has been declared “fully fit” to serve as commander-in-chief, following a medical examination.
The assessment, overseen by White House physician Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, indicates that the 78-year-old president is in excellent health, both physically and cognitively.
The medical report notes that President Trump has lost 20 pounds since his 2020 check-up, now weighing 224 pounds, which places him in the overweight category but no longer obese.
His blood pressure is recorded at 128/74 mmHg, and his resting heart rate is 62 beats per minute, both within healthy ranges. Cholesterol levels have improved, with a total cholesterol reading of 140 mg/dL, aided by medications rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.

Dr. Barbabella attributes the president’s health to his active lifestyle, highlighting his participation in meetings, public appearances, and frequent golf games.
Trump’s cognitive function remains sharp, as evidenced by a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a screening tool for cognitive dysfunction.
The examination also revealed minor health issues, including seasonal allergies, a history of COVID-19 infection, and well-managed skin conditions such as rosacea and actinic keratosis. A colonoscopy performed in July 2024 identified diverticulosis and a benign polyp, with a follow-up recommended in three years.
Additionally, the report notes scarring on the president’s right ear, a result of a gunshot wound sustained during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024.
President Trump, who does not consume alcohol or tobacco, expressed satisfaction with the results, stating, “I felt I was in very good shape. Good heart.” He also emphasised his cognitive performance and remarked “I took a cognitive test… I got every answer right.”
This health disclosure comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the physical and mental fitness of aging political leaders. At 78, Trump is the oldest individual elected to the U.S. presidency, yet he remains four years younger than his predecessor, Joe Biden, who was 82 at the end of his term.
