Chaos To Continue At Centrelink Amid Strike Action

Chaos is expected to continue today as Centrelink staff continue their strike over an ongoing pay dispute.

Employees began their 24-hour strike on Monday which has since impacted both health services and Centrelink.

While the strike is still ongoing, it has been confirmed that Centrelink payments will not be impacted.

It has also been confirmed that self-service apps including myGov, Medicare and Centrelink will not be affected by the strike.

“We want to reassure customers that payments will not be affected,” he said.

“Our priority remains ensuring that those most vulnerable or with urgent queries will get the support they need.”

The strike comes after the Community and Public Sector Union was offered only a 0.7 percent increase to the proposed 10.5 percent offer.

The Australian Public Service Commission have since informed the union that they plan to turn down the offer.
