The brother of Brisbane Broncos player Payne Haas has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle $1 million worth of drugs into NSW from QLD.
Police arrested 19-year-old Zeda Haas on Tuesday at 11:45AM in Beresfield near Newcastle.
It has been alleged that Haas was allegedly caught bringing 1.8kg of the drug ice into NSW.
Police also arrested 20-year-old Kaharau Beer at the same time as Haas.
The arrest was part of a sting operation with police swapping out the drugs for a fake substance prior to the drugs being moved from Queensland.
According to a police statement, the pair were allegedly arrested on Apprentice Close in Beresfield.
“Both men were arrested at the scene and taken to Maitland Police Station,” police said.
“There they were charged with traffic in commercial quantity of controlled drug, and take part supply prohibited drug – large commercial quantity.”
Both men have been refused bail and are set to face court on Wednesday.
