New South Wales Police say it was a 40-year-old Queensland man who killed six people at Bondi Westfield on Saturday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke said Joel Cauchi was shot by a senior police officer on Saturday afternoon.
He says it appears the attack appears to be mental health-related, and the man was known to Queensland police.
The victim death toll remains at six: five women and one man. Eight injured people remain in the hospital.
Among the victims was 38-year-old first time mother Ash Good, her baby daughter was also stabbed and is in serious but stable condition in hospital.
