Murder charge laid after body found buried in outer Sydney property

A man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a shallow grave at a property on the outskirts of Sydney’s north-west last week.

New South Wales police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old man, whose body was found on the property at Gleness Place.

Stay up to date with The New South Wales Briefing:

Superintendent Naomi Moore told the media there were “reports of blunt force trauma being the predominant cause” of death.

Moore said there were reports the man was “obviously avoiding police” by camping in backyards.

Following inquiries, two men, aged 24 and 34, and a 35-year-old woman, were arrested at the scene and taken to Castle Hill Police Station.

“These people were known to each other. It wasn’t a random attack, and that will form part of our investigation,” Moore said.

They were released pending further investigation.

About 2:15pm on Sunday March 23rd, police arrested a 24-year-old man at a home on Meridan Avenue, Glenorie.

He was taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with murder and refused bail.

He is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Monday.
