Disney and BBC have confirmed that Bluey, Australia’s favourite animated series, is heading to cinemas in 2027.

“I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together,” Mr Brumm said.

While keeping most details under wraps, Mr Brumm assured fans that the movie will bring more of Bluey’s loveable character, capturing a “loveable, tireless blue heeler dog who lives with her mum, dad, and little sister, Bingo.”

Since its 2018 launch on ABC, the Brisbane-made series has become a global sensation.

It was recently named the most-watched show in the US, with audiences streaming over 35 billion minutes.

The movie will feature original voice actors Melanie Zanetti (Chilli) and David McCormack (Bandit) and include visual effects expertise from Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The Lego Movie).

BBC will handle global distribution, while the Australian government will fund post-production.

The Movie is scheduled for release in 2027 and will be available in theatres, on Disney+, and the ABC.
