Australian Chef And Restaurateur Bill Granger Has Died, Aged 54

Renowned Australian cook and restaurateur Bill Granger has died in London, aged 54.

Granger’s family confirmed of his peaceful passing in hospital on Christmas Day in a social media post.

“He will be remembered as the ‘King of Breakfast’, for making unpretentious food into something special filled with sunshine and for spurring the growth of Australian informal and communal eating around the world,” the post read.

“He will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family, who are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.”

Granger was born in Melbourne and took his three-decade career global as a restaurateur and food writer.

He dropped out of art school ion 1993 and moved to Sydney where he opened his first restaurant, bills, in Darlinghurst.

His food then reached Japan, South Korea, and the UK, where he and his family called home for a number of years.

Granger authored 14 cookbooks and sold more than one million copies, made five TV series and just this year, was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia.

Granger leaves behind wife, Natalie Elliott, and their three daughters Edie, Ines, and Bunny.
