Anzac Day Road Closures You Need To Look Out For

As Australia prepares to commemorate Anzac Day on April 25, several cities are implementing road closures and transport changes to accommodate ceremonies and marches.

Here’s a rundown of the road closures in major cities across the country:

Melbourne

In Melbourne, several road closures will be in effect from 12:01am to 2:00pm on April 25. During this period, key thoroughfares such as Swanston Street, St Kilda Road, and Coventry Street will be closed to traffic.

Tow-away zones will also be enforced in specific areas, including Swanston Street and Collins Street. Tram services along St Kilda Road will be halted from 6:00am until after the Commemoration March concludes.

Extra trams will operate on Swanston Street and St Kilda Road corridors between Flinders Street and Stop 20 (ANZAC Station) to assist attendees of the Dawn Service.

Sydney

Sydney CBD will experience significant road closures from 2am to 4pm on Anzac Day. Special event clearway parking restrictions will limit street parking availability.

Buses will follow alternate routes, and light rail services between Town Hall and Circular Quay will be suspended from 3am to 6:30am.

Free public transport will be provided for Australian Defence Force members, veterans, and their families. Additional early morning train and bus services will operate, with travellers advised to plan ahead using transportnsw.info or calling 131 500.

Brisbane

The Anzac Day Parade Brisbane Committee has announced temporary road closures and changes to parking arrangements for Anzac Day commemorations on April 25, 2024.
