Anthony Albanese’s approval rating has fallen to a record low, while the Coalition maintains a lead on a two-party-preferred basis according to latest polling.
The latest Newspoll in The Australian on Monday revealed the Coalition leads Labor 51-49 despite a one-point fall in its primary vote to 38 per cent.

Labor’s primary vote sits at 31 per cent, its equal-lowest primary vote, with about 53 per cent of those surveyed believing Albanese did not deserve to be re-elected.
Labor’s 2022 election result was 32.6 per cent, indicating a 3.1 per cent swing against the party.
Thirty-four per cent said however he deserved another chance leading the country.
When it came to approval ratings, Albanese remained unchanged at 37 per cent, while Dutton rose a point to 41 per cent – the highest the opposition leader has achieved.
For the Coalition however, polling suggested Australians are still hesitant to back Peter Dutton enough for the party to win a majorty government.
Newspoll numbers have moved little since the start of the year, with the Greens remaining on 12 per cent and One Nation at seven per cent.
The latest polling surveyed 1,244 people between February 10 and 14, following the two weeks of parliamentary sitting.
Anthony Albanese is expected to call the federal election within weeks.
