Taylor Swift has announced a concert film of her Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour.
The movie hits American cinemas on October 13 – however, fans in the rest of the world will have to be patient.
Our industry sources suggest Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour is not expected to play in Australian cinemas until after her tour down under in February – but we will get it.
It will provide the next best thing for those who missed out on tickets or don’t live in Melbourne or Sydney.
Taylor filmed multiple nights of her six-night run of shows in Los Angeles.
It will screen in US cinemas multiple times a day, including in some IMAX theatres.
Before the tour film was announced, Swifties were also speculating Amazon Prime might get the streaming/on-demand rights for a tour documentary, as unreleased Taylor’s Versions of songs have been used in 2 of their shows recently – The Summer I Turned Pretty and Wilderness. Others believe it will be on Disney+, as Taylor has an existing deal with them after the Longpond Sessions.
The running time for the film is 2 hours, and 45 minutes suggesting between song banter and stage breaks have been removed, as our new Behind The Hits podcast on Taylor and her tour reveals that she is on stage for a whole three-hour run.
Taylor has already suggested her US fans turn screenings into sing-a-long events, with the superstar stating “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged!”
Ticket prices were $19.89 (in US dollars) and once again demand saw the Ticketmaster system crash in America, as it did for the actual tour.
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour is currently on a break after four shows in Mexico – it will start again in Argentina in November with dates added until the end of 2024.
