Lorde’s Debut Album Turns 10 This Year! Feel Old Yet?

It’s now been ten years since Lorde’s debut album turned her into a teenage superstar.

Lorde’s Pure Heroine reached No.1 in her home of New Zealand, as well as going Top 5 in the US and UK.

Now 26, Lorde is currently touring her latest record Solar Power around Australia. However the setlist still features classics from Pure Heroine including Ribs, Royals, Tennis Court, Buzzcut Season and Team.

Royals is the only song by a Kiwi artist to win Grammy for Song of the Year. At 16, she also became the youngest artist to reach No.1 in the US since Tiffany in the 80s.

The song has been covered by Bruce Springsteen and Weird Al Yankovic.

Lorde tells us that early success took some getting used to.

“I think when you get on stage there’s a degree of slipping into a different character, especially for me as I’m quite reserved. I’m pretty mellow. I much prefer the writing process, that’s the reason I can be on stage or in front of the camera.”
