The quest for a maiden FIFA Women’s World Cup for our Matildas is sadly done now, and it’s just a coincidence that Luke Combs was playing a gig at the venue RIGHT NEXT DOOR to where the Matildas played their big game against England.
So – Matt Dyktynski channeled his inner Luke Combs to come up with this ripper.

Lyrics.
Bad luck you Matildas
You did your best but lost to the Poms
The journey doesn’t end there
There’s still a chance you could come third
I know coming thirds bout as good
As getting a participation ribbon
But surely it must mean something
Better than fourth not quite as good as second.
I remember just how good you were at the start
When you beat Ireland, then Canada
Looked like you had hit your mark
When put 2 goals past old Denmark
And I hear you did your thing when you beat France
And I wish I’d booked a different venue for my concert here
No one can hear.
I wish you well Matildas
Good luck in your game against the swedes
I hope that you have felt the country’s love
I hope that love fulfil your needs
Tell you what would have been good though
Is if someone had thought maybe to flag
That Luke maybe don’t play your concert
Next to where you guys playing might sound quite bad.
Turns out that no one gave much thought
That a crowd that’s 75 thousand strong
That were there for the Matildas
Might stuff me up when I tried to sing Fast Car
