Popular Instagram influences Sean Szeps is also a gay dad living in Australia, and he’s written a book detailing the challenges and triumphs of his journey to date.
His book, Not Like Other Dads, is out now and he joined Pete and Kymba to discuss what it took to write that book, and the reasons why he did so.

Amongst this fascinating chat, Szeps mentions the issue he still faces with basic ignorance in the community.
“I don’t have a problem with people making mistakes, it happens every single day to me. I tell them ‘I don’t have a wife, I have a husband’ and almost everyone goes ‘Oh, I’m so sorry. Of course. That’s wonderful’, and they move on.
“It’s the people who look at my daughter and say ‘Everyone has a mother, where’s yours?’, and keep pushing back. That’s really where I draw the line.
“It’s important for me to share those stories so other people, who might only know one script are reminded, you might come across people whose mother died, or they have two mums,
“There are so many different ways that families are made and I just want people to be aware of their words.”
