Robbie Williams has opened up to Jimmy & Nath about his upcoming biopic Better Man, revealing that he was originally set to play himself but ultimately decided against it due to the difficulty of justifying the time away from his family.
Instead, actor Jonno Davies takes on a unique role in the film, portraying Williams as a monkey. Williams joked that Davies has a “much better lower torso” than him, referencing the loss of “his arse” after using Ozempic.
When watching the film, Williams initially thought he was admiring his own dance moves. However, he was soon corrected by director Michael Gracey, who informed him that it was actually Davies doing the moves.
Gracey has clarified the unconventional portrayal of Williams as a monkey, explaining that with so many music biopics already made, he wanted to approach the story differently. He noted that Williams often refers to himself as a monkey, so the film reflects how Williams sees himself rather than how the public perceives him.
Better Man, which dives into the life and career of the iconic performer, is set for release on December 26th.
