Starring alongside Russell Crowe in the 2000 blockbuster Gladiator, Connie reveals he did not contact her for the sequel.
It was long rumoured that Russell would join the Gladiator 2 cast in a flashback style scene, considering his character Maximus tragically dies in the first instalment.
But director Ridley Scott opted not to have Crowe join the cast, instead using footage from the original movie.
Jimmy and Nath caught up with Russell earlier in the year where they asked him about the Gladiator sequel and what he thought about the movie.
“I don’t want to talk about it boys,” Russell says.
“I’m not in it, it’s not about me.”
Actress Connie Nielsen who starred in the first Gladiator movie as Maximus’ wife also says she hasn’t spoken to Russell.
Connie reveals to Jimmy and Nath she believes Russell has FOMO (fear of missing out) about the latest Gladiator film.
“He loves the film,” Connie says.
“I think he just loves that part also of his life.”
“I’m sure I’ll feel like that when they do Gladiator 3 and I’m not in it.” She adds.
Pedro Pascal stars as her character’s new partner in the Gladiator sequel.
But when it comes to comparing Pedro and Russell, Connie explains that Russell is the husband who got away, and Pedro is the husband who stayed.
