When Australia’s best athletes stepped off the plane from Paris yesterday, NSW Premier Chris Minns was there to happily welcome them home.
But according to “Minzy” himself, the Olympians didn’t know who he was and walked right past him!
“They didn’t seem to know who I was.”
“Don’t you know who I am? Don’t you read the newspapers?” The Premier jokes.
Voted the most influential person on the Sydney Power 100 list, it’s a surprise the NSW Premier didn’t get a look in by the athletes.
Jimmy and Nath spoke with Ariarne Titmus and Harry Garside and they are only ranked number 123 and 125 on the list (respectably).
Chris hopped on the phone with Jimmy and Nath to also discuss his bill to remove restrictions on alcohol consumption in public places.
“There’s a lot of rules in Sydney about drinking in particular,” Chris Minns says.
“And what it does is it punishes ordinary people that do the right thing.”
While the Premier has been without alcohol for three years, he agreed to have a glass of water with Jimmy and Nath after declining a mocktail because it has “too much sugar”.
