SeaFM’s Bianca, Ben, and Lakey have Lisa Portolan on the show who is an intimacy and dating app expert with a recent study showing three-quarters of people experience unacceptable behaviour on dating apps.
Lisa says “the government has given them (dating apps) 9 months to get their act together and basically put together a voluntary code to make dating apps safer before they hit them with any sort of legislation”.
There are some important tips for remaining safe on the apps including blocking and reporting people. Lisa explains that Tinder has a functionality called “incognito” where people can’t see you unless you swipe right on them. Another important tip she gives is to avoid using the same photo in your dating app profile that you use across your other social media platforms.
