Why Jennifer Aniston Supports “Childless Cat Ladies”

Jennifer Aniston has weighed in on Trump’s running mate, JD Vance’s suggestion that “childless cat ladies” run the US government.

The Friends actress has shared her fertility struggles and attempts to conceive using in-vitro fertilization in the past.

She posted on an Instagram story: “I truly cannot believe this is coming from a potential VP. All I can say is … Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day”.

Jennifer also said, “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF. Because you are trying to take that away from her too.”

She was referencing a comment JD Vance made in 2021, when he said the country was being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

Last month, Vance and a group of Republicans blocked a federal law that would have enshrined access to IVF treatment.

In this episode of The Briefing, we’re joined by Emma Shortis from The Australia Institute to discuss the fallout from Vance’s comments and what the latest polls mean for November’s race for the White House.
