Former Olympian Stephanie Rice was dominating SAS Australia’s gruelling course.
But it was a case of Déjà vu when Rice dislocated her shoulder throwing a live grenade in a challenge.
After trying to push on, she was devastated when the call was made to pull out, noting that leaving the course “just hurt more because [she] didn’t have much going on.”
“I don’t know if I would say good place,” she told B105’s Stav, Abby and Matt about her mental health.
“I think when you finish top level sport, there is really nothing that replaces that feeling or that passion; I think that’s why a lot of top athletes really struggle.”
“I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m never going to replace it.”
SAS Australia airs on Channel 7 Sundays and Mondays at 7:30pm.
Stav, Abby and Matt are on Brisbane’s B105 weekdays from 6am-9am or you can catch up anytime on the LiSTNR app here!
