If you’re a lover of all things reality television, then you’d know that Netflix’s Dubai Bling has just returned to our screens for its third season.
For the first two seasons, Australians followed the life of Kris Fade on the show, an Australian-Lebanese radio personality who has made it big on the airwaves of the UAE.
But how does a kid who grew up in Sydney and failed high school find himself the star of his own international breakfast show and living the glitzy lifestyle portrayed on Dubai Bling?
Fade joined Antoinette Lattouf on The Weekend Briefing to discuss why he reinvented himself as Kris Fade (spoiler alert, Kris Fade isn’t his real name) and the crushing conversation with a radio executive that led him to take a chance overseas—and ultimately changed his life.
Lattouf also asks the burning questions we all want the answers to: just how much do those Dubai Bling castmates really make, and why did Fade step back from the diamond-encrusted chaos in season three?
“I think we (referring to himself and his wife, Brianna) had our run with what I wanted with the Dubai Bling. I thought the first two seasons were fantastic,” Fade said.
“It’s really demanding [to film a reality show]… and it was getting a little bit harder alongside with the drama.
“I don’t wanna be forced into drama and I don’t wanna create drama just for ratings, so you know, Brianna and I opted to sort of take a back seat for season three.”
