Jack Vidgen was just 14-years-old when he won over the nation and took home the title of Australia’s Got Talent.
Since then, Jack has experienced the highs and lows of life and “re-entered” the public space on The Voice, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, The Masked Singer and The Challenge, and will finally be dropping a much-anticipated new single this December 9th.
But when Jack first stepped back out on Aussie TV screens looking visibly different with botox and fillers, he faced negative comments from some viewers and the media.
Speaking now with Sean Szeps on the Come Out Wherever You Are podcast, Jack has opened up about the body shaming he faced.
“I wasn’t expecting the tidal wave of negativity from people,” he told Sean. “It was very intense.”
“They saw me as a 14-year-old and they felt like, because they voted for me or whatever it is, they feel like they own me, which you f**kin don’t.
“… There’s so many reasons why I did want to change myself. I didn’t like myself. I didn’t like how I looked. I didn’t love myself, from abuse, from all different things, I wanted to get away from the person that I was… There are reasons why I was doing it.”
