It’s International Women’s Day, and we’re celebrating by bringing you an exclusive interview with our very own Erin Molan, who revealed why she nearly walked away from The Footy Show and how she’s using her voice to make the path easier for women.
“It was basically because I was a woman and that was the basis for a lot of these attacks on me. It was the fact that my gender was not male. And that really blew my mind. I’d never experienced anything really like it and there were times when I thought I’m just going to walk away because it is actually too hard.”
ERIN MOLAN ON USING HER VOICE FOR WOMEN
We asked the women (and a couple of men) behind your favourite podcasts and radio shows to share about a time they’ve #EmbracedEquity and challenged gender stereotypes, called out discrimination, drawn attention to bias and sought out inclusion. We’re going to hear when it worked, when it didn’t, and what they learned from the experience.
You’ll hear from Carrie Bickmore, Jess Rowe, Sarah Maree Cameron, Fifi Box, Turia Pitt, Natarsha Belling, Jamila Rizvi, Steph Claire Smith & Laura Henshaw, Erin Molan, Lama Zakharia, Loren Barry and Kymba Cahill along with Tommy Little, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody
International Women’s Day has shared the meaning of the theme this year as:
The IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme seeks to get the world talking about why “equal opportunities are no longer enough” – and can in fact be exclusionary, rather than inclusive.
