Filming hadn’t even begun on the Netflix series Byron Baes when the show started making headlines last year.
The concept of a reality TV show following the lives of influencers in Byron Bay received plenty of concern and protests from locals and the town’s mayor, Michael Lyon. But despite the pushback, Byron Baes went ahead and premiered this month with ‘bingeable’ success.
Now, both mayor Michael Lyon, and the show’s executive producer, Julian Morgan, have joined The Briefing podcast to discuss their thoughts on the show since airing.
Could the show perpetuate the town’s increased housing issues and homelessness? Was the backlash an overreaction? Will we see another season?
