In 2016, a Perth thrill kill duo became two of Australia’s most calculated female murderers.
Jemma Lilley, a supermarket worker obsessed with serial killers, and Trudi Lenon, a mum of three, lured 18-year-old Aaron Pajich to their home in Perth.
Investigators said the house was set up almost like a trap. The pair covered windows, cleared a space in the living room, and had weapons ready.
Dr. Kari Pitts joined Crime Insiders to explain how tiny traces of evidence cracked the case:
The murder of Aaron Pajich was premeditated. Investigators later found his body concealed under concrete pavers in the backyard.
The next step was proving Trudi and Jemma were the killers – and it all came down to trace evidence.
Forensic chemist Dr Kari Pitts said two pieces of crucial evidence were a strand of blue hair and some carpet fibres.
The blue strand of hair was found caught in duct tape used to bind Aaron’s body. At the time, Jemma had bright blue-green hair.

Because the hair was heavily bleached, Kari said they couldn’t perform DNA analysis; however, the lengths and colour of the strands were consistent with Jemma’s hair.
Kari then confirmed that carpet fibres collected from the duct tape and Aaron’s clothing matched those from Trudi’s home.
