Gerard Baden-Clay: The Brisbane real estate agent who murdered his wife

Ever heard of Gerard Baden-Clay, the Brisbane real estate agent who reported his wife missing, then turned out to be her killer?

On April 20th, 2012, Gerard Baden-Clay called 000. He told police his wife Allison hadn’t returned form her early morning walk in Logan, south of Brisbane, and he was worried.

Former detective Mal Gundry said he arrived at Gerard’s property the day after and noticed suspicious scratches on his face. Mal told the Crime Insiders podcast Gerard’s behaviour seemed odd.

Gerard told police the scratches came from shaving but investigators weren’t convinced. Behind the scenes, he was juggling debt, affairs, and a crumbling marriage.

Ten days later, Allison’s body was discovered at Kholo Creek. What started as a missing persons case quickly turned into a murder investigation.

Hear how Mal’s investigation of Gerard helped get a conviction on this episode of Crime Insiders.
