Mushroom Killer Erin Patterson To Appeal Guilty Verdicts

Erin Patterson’s lawyer has announced her intention to appeal her convictions for murder and attempted murder.

She was found guilty of killing three relatives, Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson, after serving them a meal laced with deadly death cap mushrooms at her home in regional Victoria in 2023. A fourth person, Ian Wilkinson, survived after weeks in hospital.

Patterson was sentenced to life in prison with a non-parole period of 33 years. Her lawyer announced during a Supreme Court hearing that she intends to appeal the jury’s decision.

The specific grounds for appeal haven’t been released yet.
