There is insufficient evidence at this stage to press any charges.

Victoria Police confirmed on Thursday to the Herald Sun detectives spoke to the teenage boy in relation “to a number of explicit images of AFL players being circulated online”.

“The 17-year-old was spoken to by police on 31 July, however at this time there is insufficient evidence in relation to any applicable charges.”

Last month, the nude photos of 45 past and present AFL players were leaked without consent.

The photos were easily accessible via an online file and required no password – with the images soon circulating on social media.

Arranged in folders of each player, the files ranged from screenshots of private messages to screen recordings of explicit videos and other intimate content.

The Age reported last month it was unlikely the offenders would face legal prosecution as players involved had not made formal complaints.

The publication spoke to 17 players on the list, 14 which were current players, who stated they hadn’t made, nor intended to, make a complaint to the police.
