Victoria’s top police officer, Chief Commissioner Mike Bush has echoed the importance of preventing the unacceptable crime rates, in particular the organised youth crime.
Speaking to Triple M’s Mick In The Morning, Commissioner Bush wants officers back on the frontline and less time doing desk paperwork – pledging unity.
“Got to work together across the system. Unless everyone comes to the party, across the public service, then we won’t make much impact.”
Bush said majority of the recent youth crime across the state has been a result of larger, organised groups.
“Young people are behaving very badly. A lot of that is enabled, or driven by organised crime. Some are tasked by organised crime figures,” Victoria’s Police Commissioner.
“Crime and the fear of crime are equally important.”
As part of a committed shake-up of the force’s operations, the new Chief flagged harsher monitoring for repeat offenders.
“Should they get bail, they should all be electrically monitored. So the minute they breach, we intervene.”
