Michael Maguire has made the big call to axe incumbent NSW captain and fullback James Tedesco, signaling a brand new era for New South Wales under his leadership.
Madge revealed on Triple M’s Monday Scrum that the phone call he had to make to Teddy was far from easy.
“I think whenever you’re telling someone that they’re not playing they’re always difficult and we’ve had a player that has been an incredible player for our game in Teddy.” said Maguire
“I won’t talk about what we spoke about but I can understand why James Tedesco is a champion and a champion player.”
Maguire has handed Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards his first Blues jumper and was excited about this new era for New South Wales.
“So looking at what we’ve now chosen and I’ve chosen to go with Dylan, I’m really looking forward to seeing a player that’s been at the highs of the game for such a long, long period of time – he’s been probably one of the most consistent across the game at that level.”
