We’re thrilled to share that legendary Australian rock band Spiderbait is gearing up for a national tour this August, September, and October. This extensive tour is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2004 album, Tonight Alright, and its standout track, ‘Black Betty’.
The Black Betty 20th Anniversary Tour will commence at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday 13 August, covering all Australian capital cities with additional stops in Newcastle, Wollongong, and the Gold Coast. In a thrilling addition for fans, Spiderbait will also release a limited edition red vinyl of Tonight Alright on 26 July, complete with alternative artwork and an alternate version of ‘Tonite’. Fans can pre-order this collector’s item here.
Frontier members can snag presale tickets starting 10 am (local time) on Monday 20 May, with general sales launching at 10 am (local time) on Wednesday 22 May. For more details on the tour and to purchase tickets, visit frontiertouring.com/spiderbait.
“I can’t believe it’s 20 years since we released Black Betty and it went to number 1,” marvels Kram, Spiderbait’s drummer and vocalist. “The song has become a bit legendary for us, amassing over a hundred million streams on Spotify and 75 million views on YouTube, which is nuts!”
Janet, the band’s bassist, adds, “Nothing beats seeing live music. It feels like we’re throwing a party in the machinery shed on the farm like the old days.”
Guitarist Whitt reflects on the album’s style, “I loved touring this album 20 years ago, we went back to a raw guitar, bass, and drums approach that comes naturally to us.”
Spiderbait has been a formidable force in the music scene for over thirty years, emerging from a small Australian country town to become rock ‘n’ roll royalty. The band has released seven acclaimed albums, achieving Gold, Platinum, or Double Platinum status, and has racked up almost every Australian accolade possible, including multiple ARIA Awards.
