Swimming Olympian legend Leisel Jones has spoken out at the current state of Swimming Australia, after it was finally revealed after why Gina Reinhart she pulled her sponsorship funding from Swimming Australia in 2001.
Reinhart learnt that numerous Australian swimmers weren’t getting paid through their promised sponsorship by Swimming Australia, so she pulled her funding and moved it to Swimming Queensland.
Speaking on The Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam and Dobbo, Jones expressed her concern for the future of the sport, as she feels like if swimmers don’t see a clear pathway to succeed they’ll drop out due to a lack of financial pathway.
