Maroons Team Announced for Origin Game One!

State of Origin is officially here!

Dobbo from The Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam & Dobbo broke the Maroons team selection news this morning on Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux and Dan for Game One.

There seven changes to the Maroons side who won last year’s Origin decider. 

LISTEN NOW:

Queensland’s best player in Origin three last year Kalyn Ponga dropped due to health concerns. He’ll be replaced by Broncos fullback Reece Walsh who’ll make his Origin debut. 

Queensland stalwart Dane Gagai has also been axed and will be replaced in the centres by Dolphin Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, who’ll become the first Dolphin to play Origin. 

Broncos firebrand Tom Flegler will replace the retired Josh Papali’I in the front row. 

David Fafita has earned a State of Origin recall after a stellar start to the season. He’ll start in the back-row for the suspended Felise Kaufusi.

Tom Gilbert will make his run on debut in place of Broncos Kurt Capewell who’s been dropped.

Storm front rower Christian Welch has been overlooked.
