Four years later, former Eagle Daniel Venables says he continues to grapple with the consequences of a detrimental collision on the AFL field, which caused him to endure 7 brain bleeds via Xav and Michelle for Breakfast.
“I’m a bit numb to it… I had a seizure on the field…that night I went home I just couldn’t, I felt like the pressure in my head, my skull was about to break,” Daniel said.
“There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t had headaches.”
Xav seeks Daniel’s input on any additional measures that the AFL should adopt.
“You need to get objective tests…you do baselines of all the players at the start of the year, you have a head knock, you go to your testings again and you can’t play until they’re better.”
Now 4.5 years on Daniel says he is still suffering.
“I am tired and exhausted from it…if I go and see some mates for dinner, or whatever, I’ll pay for that for the next few days”.
