Max Gawn Pours Cold Water Over Simon Goodwin’s Recent Comments

Melbourne captain Max Gawn has responded to comments made by Simon Goodwin about his personal matters, defending his coach following their Round 2 loss to the Roos.

Max Gawn admits to Triple M’s Mick In The Morning he’s dealing with a family illness over the past 24 months, but hasn’t allowed it to affect his play.

“I love that my coach loves me. He’s 100% right, there are reasons for performance issues … I just got beat. I won’t hide behind that,” Gawn said on Mick In The Morning.

Gawn added there’s no conflict between Goodwin and him, admitting he would’ve preferred if it was worded different.

“It’s been for a while. I’ve put myself in a really good spot the past 24 months. I haven’t hid behind it… I’m also free to talk about it throughout the club.”

The Demons skipper added “I would clearly stand away from football if I was struggling”, but that isn’t the case as he deals with family matters.
