Retired West Coast legend David Wirrpanda (Wirra) recalls the time his teammates Fraser Gehrig and Scott Cummings were chased by machete-wielding locals on a footy trip via the Rush Hour with Embers and Katie.
“Within about half an hour of ordering our drinks I see Scotty Cummings and Fraser Gehrig being chased by all the locals with knives and machetes,” Wirra said on the Rush Hour with Embers and Katie.
“I remember just turning around looking at Guy McKenna, I said, “What do you reckon they’ve ordered?””
“I’ve never seen Scotty move so quick,” Embers added.
Embers adds how a local soon caught up to Fraser.
“One bloke, he had this crutch and he was smacking it all over his leg”
At the time he had just signed with St Kilda and was planning to leave West Coast.
“No one jumped in to help the big fella because he left,” Wirra jokes.
David Wirrpanda shares some more fascinating stories from the past and suggests that he and Embers should strap up their football boots and step in for the injured players in the Eagles’ first round of the game.
