Adelaide director of football Mark Ricciuto has addressed fan backlash against the club after a recent run of bad form on Roo, Ditts & Loz for Breakfast this morning.
“I think at the start of the year more people than not thought we’d challenge for finals and I was one of them,” Roo said.
“But we’ve had a combination of a lack of form for some players and injuries and combining that you get a lack of confidence as well.
“I still think our list is absolutely good enough to play finals if it’s fully fit but you can’t have that many numbers (injured) and we’ve had a combination of that.”
“In the first 4 games I was a bit confused as to why we weren’t playing as well as what we were after playing two good pre-season games,” he said.
“We just couldn’t quite move the ball like we wanted to and couldn’t get that connection between midfield and forward. I though the next two months after that was really good footy and we just didn’t quite (capitalise).
“We’d been mixing it with the best sides for two months, the last couple of weeks haven’t been good enough and everyone’s entitled to be frustrated about that from supporters to absolutely everyone, it’s not good enough”.
MORE ON THE ADELAIDE CROWS:
Roo also addressed whether he’d had any doubts over his own administrative work at the Crows.
“You always doubt things, when you’re a player you doubt yourself, when you’re a coach you doubt yourself and when you’re and administrator you doubt yourself,” he said.
“You have to back yourself in for what you’ve done in the past and what you know and I’m no differently to that… I know where we’re at right now and I know what we’ve got to do over the next two years to add to the footy club to be where we want to be — and that’s at the top of the list competing for Premierships”.
