With Christian Petracca reportedly looking to expand his brand by asking to move away from Melbourne, Joey Montagna, Daisy Thomas and Damian Barrett asked today if he is risking damaging it instead.
“It isn’t coming out well for Christian at the moment, I don’t think,” Joey said on the Midweek Rub.
“I think there is starting to be a turn in regards to what the perception is of Christian Petracca.”
Daisy Thomas explained how he would try and turn things around with Petracca is he was a Melbourne leader.
“If I was a teammate, I’d be reaching out as often as I can to try and, I guess, change the mindset that we’re here for you, we want to help you through this, not it’s you against us,” Daisy said.
“At the minute that’s how I take it.
“It’s team Petracca — his management, his fiancee… his family — that is constantly being referenced throughout all the media that he’s doing.”
MORE FROM THE MIDWEEK RUB:
Damian Barrett said that some of Petracca’s Melbourne teammates are growing wary of his attitude.
”Right now, he’s acting purely for himself,” Damo said.
“And that’s ok to do so, and it’s equally for people to have opinions about it, and I do know his teammates are tiring of this aspect of his outlook.”
Joey, Daisy and Damian Barrett also discussed Michael Voss’s citizen’s arrest, the most intriguing All-Australian storylines, and graded every non-finals team.
