Two of NRL’s heavyweights went to battle at the beginning of round 6.
Though Melbourne Storm proved too strong for foes Sydney Roosters in their 28-8 victory.
Yet the game was marred by controversy after Chooks forward Victor Radley was sent to the sin-bin for a ‘totally unnecessary’ late hit on Cameron Munster.
The visitors were up 8-6 at that point but the 10 minute period that followed before half-time cost them a concession of two tries, the lead and then inevitably the game.
James Graham on Footy Talk was not happy with the refeering decision and questioned whether Radley was sent for 10 because of who he is.
LISTEN HERE:
‘Victor Radley is a victim of reputation,’ said Graham.
‘I think we say that incident happens on a number of occasions.
‘But because it’s Victor Radley, he goes for 10.’
Roosters coach Trent Robinson was heavily disappointed in the call.
‘It’s sort of on the pretty light side (of sin bins) I would say,’ said Robinson post-game.
‘It’s frustrating that there’s such a big difference in the 10 minutes.’
Though it doesn’t stop for Radley, as the Roosters star now faces a $3,000 fine with an early guilty plea or a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully contests the charge at the judiciary.
