The Matildas have waltzed into the semifinals for the first time in FIFA Women’s World Cup history after their victory over France on Saturday night.
But the Tillies are making history off the field too.
MATILDAS BREAK UNUSUAL RECORD:
“They broke the record tonight; it was the loudest cheer ever recorded at Brisbane Stadium at 123.8db” said a FIFA inside source.
“It was the most exciting night to be apart of.”
The previous record was set at the 2022 State Of Origin decider.
Matilda’s captain Sam Kerr couldn’t contain her excitement post match, crediting the 49,461 fans that packed out the stadium.
“Tillies fans you were absolutely incredible tonight,” Kerr said.
“We heard you, we felt you, we’re going to the semi-finals. Let’s see you in Sydney.”
Saturday night’s coverage reportedly became the most viewed TV event since Cathy Freeman’s 400-metre final in 2000.
The Matildas take on England this Wednesday night with the winner progressing to the FIFA Women’s World Cup final.
Stav, Abby and Matt are on Brisbane’s B105 weekdays from 6am-9am, or you can catch up anytime on the LiSTNR app here!
