NRL Legend Wendell Sailor speaking on Triple M’s Rush Hour
“Here we go again. It’s 2023. Jeez. When are we going to learn?” Wendell Sailor reacts to the depressing re-appearance of racism from an individual in the crowd at the Penrith Panthers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs game last night.
Rush Hour co-host Candace Warner reiterated the team’s despair at the incident and was impressed with Souths Coach Jason Demetriou‘s reaction post-game.
“He took a really strong stance on this. He was passionate. He said there was no place for this. He was really strong in his words. The Police are now involved and a lifetime ban (for the offender) surely?”
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo led widespread condemnation of the incident, describing it as ‘abhorrent and unacceptable’.
Panthers ran out 16-10 winners to secure their first win of the 2023 NRL season.
“That’s what we should be talking about. We should be talking about Souths coming back and Penrith winning. It’s everything we love about footy. But we’ve got to learn and we’ve got to stamp it out,” concluded Dell.
