“I Was Downright Depressed” | Josh Mansour On His Stint At South Sydney Rabbitohs & Playing Under Jason Demetriou

Former NRL winger Josh Mansour joined The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell for their latest episode of Hero, Highlight and Hardship.

LISTEN HERE:

Mansour spent nine years at the Penrith Panthers but was brutally let go after the 2020 Grand Final loss to Melbourne Storm.

Mansour, though signed with at the time, premiership contending South Sydney Rabbitohs to play under Wayne Bennett, though after the legendary coach moved on from the club after the 2021 season, he found himself in a problematic position under new head coach Jason Demetriou.

“All the communcaiton wasn’t the best with him,” said Mansour.

“It was unfortunate that it came to that,

“I’m not saying he’s a bad guy or anything, it’s just my personal experience with him.

“Unfortunately it wasn’t positive.”

Mansour found himself in and out of the Rabbitohs side over the two seasons he was there and mental battles became his biggest obstacle.

“I checked out mate,

My 2022 year was very tough for me and my family.

“I took it home with me as well which is very sad.

“I was having sleepless nights.

“If I was to see a psychologist, I reckon I was downright depressed.”
