“It’s A Long Term Decision” | Todd Payten On Captaincy Changes

The decision to relieve Jason Taumalolo and Chad Townend of their captaincy duties was about looking to the future according to Todd Payten.

“It’s a long term decision to be fair.” said Payton

“[There’s] a few guys at the backend of their careers and over the course of the next 12 months to 2 years, won’t be here for a number of reasons.”

“We needed to make a shift in that regard, so that we had enough time to give the support that Tommy and Reuben need to develop into being the best captains that they can be.”

Payten has appointed Tom Dearden and Reuben Cotter as captains of the club for the 2024 season.
