Panthers legend Ryan Girdler has urged the NRL community not to let the actions of a “minority” paint a bad image of Penrith supporters, following the alleged racial abuse aimed at South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell.

Racism in the NRL made its way into the spotlight on Thursday night, after a fan was ejected due to an alleged slur aimed at Mitchell during Penrith’s 16-10 win over South Sydney at BlueBet Stadium.
The incident isn’t the first time a player has been subjected to abuse at Panthers stadium, with Greg Inglis targeted back in 2018 in a similar situation.
“They’re a great football community, they love their game and they support their team,” Girdler said on Triple M’s Saturday Scrum.
“That’s not a representation of the majority of people out there.”
