‘It’s A Big Issue’: Knights To Seek NRL Exemption For Injury Crisis, Says Brent Read

Leading NRL journalist Brent Read has revealed the Newcastle Knights will seek an exemption from the league to name a full squad ahead of their Friday night clash against the undefeated Dolphins.

LISTEN HERE:

With only 28 players signed to the top squad, according to Read, a mounting injury toll will leave Newcastle with no choice but to seek an exemption.

The Knights in their win against the Tigers on Sunday lost Kalyn Ponga, Tyson Frizell and Jayden Brailey to injury, while Jacob Saifiti was handed a five-game suspension.

“They’re going to have to ask for an exemption from the NRL to actually name a full squad,” Read said on Triple M’s Monday Scrum Podcast.
